World Champion 2019

By 16th September 2019 News No Comments

What a few weeks its been, but here I am Brisca F1 World Champion for the 2nd time in my career. Both wins now have been at Kings Lynn and both with exactly the same top three with Ryan Harrison and Craig Finnikin making the podium behind me.

Before I talk about this weekend, lets go back to Kings Lynn at the end of August. A lot of cars had booked in for this last meeting for everyone to dial their cars in before the world final. The meeting was average for me a moment in the final that was well documented where Mick decided to put me in, Mick ended up rolling and caution flags came out where I pulled off with damage and jumped out with a smile on my face. Some words on the microphone stirred the crowd up, we fixed the car for the national cobbling it back together to get third place. Trackstar interviewed me after the meeting, the interview was viewed 54k times on Facebook and another 6k on their twitter page, I’m a “promoters dream” and no doubt this video and my words definitely helped to sell some more world final tickets lol !!

We decided to revamp and freshen up the car for the World Final. A new paint scheme and signs. Great job by the team and as ever massive thanks to Jamie and all my sponsors. The car looks mint and went as well as it looked. World Final day was busy the track autograph signing meeting fans , interviews for various Facebook posts and Premier Sports kept me busy most of the day. As pole sitter Frankie and myself had a fair bit of promo work to do together as front row starters. The front four having to submit music for the track parade. We put some effort in getting a DJ to mix a couple of songs together “Unstoppable” by US rock band “The Score” and Sia. The music proved an omen as as the race started we were “Unstoppable”.

The boos and cheers on the parade lap motivated me to do a good job and after a long build up we were off. I got away at the start, leading the 36 car field into the first bend, with a hit from Frankie which I rode well in the wall as expected to be honest, but the car was fast and as agile as ever, I had to keep myself clean through the traffic and manage my restarts correctly, which I did and we crossed the line 2019 World Champion. “We talked the talk and walked the walk”, those were some of the comments on social media, Im now a double world champion. Big thanks to all my sponsors and fans for a great day and night. We loaded the car up after post race checks where I went and signed photos for the fans with the trophy. A late night and a few celebratory drinks with the team and fellow drivers before we moved onto Northampton.

Northampton was a big effort with the engine not getting any oil pressure when we fired it up so we installed another engine at the track all hands on deck missing my heat and getting into the consolation. A 4th place puts us in the World Masters. We are wearing Rob Speaks old gold aerofoil on the car, we have decided to run with number 1 until we defend the World Final again in 2020. The final was lively with some battles with Mark Gilbank ensuing.

I’m the Brisca World Champion 2019, I’ll say it again……. Many thanks for all the messages on social media from here in the UK and my fans in the USA. Lots of pictures that fans have been sending me in this weekend have been received. Once again massive thanks to Jamie for his support and  all the family as without them I would not be racing. Thanks to all my sponsors and fans also. See you at the track!!
